National School Counseling Week is Here!

National School Counseling Week is finally here! What’s your “recipe for success” this week? 😉 See what I did there?

Monday is the kickoff! I’ll be hanging posters around the school using my Valentine’s Day theme posters. I also give every single student a card reminding them what school counselors do!

Tuesday:  Do you students love bookmarks? Mine love any take-home item they receive in classroom guidance! I made these little Valentine’s Day themed bookmarks to give them. The younger kiddos love to color their own 🙂

Wednesday: I love being your school counselor because…. let students AND teachers know why you love working for them. I print a page like this (see below)…. another fun alternative is to print the page without your photo and have someone take your picture holding the sign. This makes a great photo-op for your program website or brochure!

Thursday is appreciation day – I love to let people know I notice their contributions to the counseling program or their great participation in it! I made these certificates of appreciation to give to teachers, administrators, parents, students, and other stakeholders!
Friday is #ReachHigher day! I’ll be wearing my collegiate-wear! I’ll be wearing a t-shirt from my undergrad school (Furman University!) and swapping hats during the day for my graduate schools (The George Washington University and Liberty University!). Make it is school-wide initiative for all faculty members to represent their schools! This is a great day for a career guidance lesson. My older students will be doing the Career Exploration Foldable Book to promote understanding of higher level education for career achievement! The younger kiddos will be playing Career Bingo and I Have, Who Has? Community Helpers.
How are you celebrating National School Counseling Week? I’d love to hear your ideas!
